Unknown disease outbreak in western Kabul; hospitals overflowing with patients

Local sources in Dasht-e-Barchi, western Kabul, report the outbreak of an unknown and contagious disease in a number of areas in the area.

According to these sources, the disease has spread since last week in Vali-Asr town, Qala-e-No area and parts of Erfan town, infecting a large number of residents. Sources say that hospitals and pharmacies in these areas are also overflowing with patients who are referring to medical centers with similar symptoms.

According to information from local sources, the symptoms of this disease initially include diarrhea, fever and headache, and in some cases, the disease leads to bloody diarrhea. It is also said that a number of students from private schools in these areas have also contracted the disease.

Sources consider the use of raw water from mobile tankers as a possible factor in the spread of this disease. According to them, severe water shortages in western Kabul have forced many families to purchase water from mobile tankers to meet their water needs.

However, no health institution or official has yet confirmed or denied these reports about the outbreak of the disease, its cause, and its possible connection to the tanker water.

Given the possibility of water-related diseases spreading, residents of the area have called for an immediate investigation of the situation by health institutions and testing of the quality of the water sources they consume.
