Taliban Ministry of Higher Education Suspends and Cancels Activities of 9 Private Universities

The Taliban-run Ministry of Higher Education has announced that it has suspended the activities of seven private universities for one year due to widespread violations, including the registration of “fictitious students” and cases related to administrative corruption.

The ministry’s statement said that this decision was made after repeated warnings and recommendations to these institutions and that its aim was to prevent violations and improve the quality of the education system.

The Ministry of Higher Education has also announced the complete cancellation of the licenses of two other private universities. According to the ministry, these educational centers have failed to meet the necessary standards despite receiving opportunities for reform.

This action is being taken at a time when monitoring higher education institutions and combating administrative corruption are serious challenges in the Afghan education system.
