A young bride’s bitter end; Orphan girl dies in Ghazni due to family violence

Local sources in Andar district of Ghazni province say that a newly married orphan girl has died after enduring months of family violence.

According to sources, the girl was living with her husband’s family while her husband was working in Dubai and during this time, the sources claim, he did not communicate and effectively address her husband’s situation. They say that the young woman was repeatedly subjected to violence and beatings by her husband’s family.

According to this account, after the girl took refuge in her father’s house, her brother returned her to her husband’s house. However, according to sources, after her return, a conflict broke out between the two families and the girl and her brother were severely beaten.

Sources add that the girl died as a result of this violence. A photo provided to Kabul Times News shows the young girl's grave.
