Fresh claims of intensification of clashes in the north; reports of Taliban opposition attacks and a secret meeting published
Kabul – Kabul Times News: As clashes increase in northern Afghanistan, reports and claims published by local sources and Taliban opposition groups indicate several security incidents in Andarab, Badakhshan and Paktia provinces.
According to local sources, on Wednesday evening at around 11:30 local time, forces known as “Andarab resistance” attacked a Taliban checkpoint in the “Awlad” area, two kilometers from Deh Salah district, Baghlan province. These sources claim that as a result of this attack, Taliban forces suffered casualties and a number of weapons and equipment fell into the hands of the attackers.
At the same time, the Afghan Liberation Front has issued a statement announcing that it has repelled a Taliban attack on its positions in Zibak district, Badakhshan province. The front claimed that five Taliban members were killed and 11 others were wounded in the four-hour clash, and that the front’s forces suffered no casualties.
On the other hand, a source told Kabul Times News that details of a secret meeting attributed to Sirajuddin Haqqani on August 29 in Paktia province had been leaked. According to the source, the meeting discussed intensifying security measures, dealing with the opposition, and sending troops to the northern provinces. Kabul Times News has not been able to independently verify these claims.
