German court sentences Afghan citizen to life in prison

A Munich court has sentenced a 25-year-old Afghan citizen to life in prison for driving a car into a crowd of people, killing a mother and her daughter.

According to the court’s verdict, “Farhad N.” was found guilty of two counts of murder, 23 counts of attempted murder, and 22 counts of causing bodily harm. The court also declared the case to be of “particularly serious gravity,” a matter that could significantly limit his possibility of early release.

The attack took place in Munich in February 2025 and left two people dead and dozens injured.

German judicial authorities have emphasized that investigations have not shown any signs of the individual’s membership in an organized group or network, and that the motives for the attack have been independently investigated.
