New allegation of forced marriage of women in Daikundi; Taliban accused of pressuring for forced marriage.

Kabul Times News |

A picture recently posted on social media has sparked widespread reactions among Afghan users. The picture shows a young woman next to a man and documents that are said to be related to their marriage contract and identity documents are also displayed.

The text on the picture reads: “Married woman in Daikundi; Taliban want to force me into forced marriage.” The claim has not yet been independently confirmed by official sources, but it has once again raised concerns about the state of women’s rights in Afghanistan.

Women’s rights activists say that in recent months there have been numerous reports of pressure on women to marry, social restrictions, and family and community threats. However, Taliban officials have so far denied the allegations, saying that women’s rights are guaranteed within the framework of Islamic Sharia law.

Social media users have called for an impartial investigation into the claim and for human rights organizations to support vulnerable women. It is not yet clear when exactly the incident occurred, and the identities of the people in the image have not been released for security reasons.
